Volunteers Help Participate in Festival by Making Peace Poles
National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows
Volunteers representing Visitation Academy and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints came out to the Festival of Faiths and Cultures located at National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows in Belleville IL to help make peace poles.  The Festival of Faiths and Cultures was a wonderful day of celebrating faiths and cultures from around the world.  The event had music, food and dance representing different cultures and faiths for everyone to enjoy and learn something new about different cultures and faiths.  Faith Beyond Walls participated by having a booth for people attending the festival could make their very own peace poles to plant in their gardens at home.  Thank you to all the volunteers who helped celebrate this wonderful event.

SLICE Week Four July 23-27, 2007
SLICE Volunteers Continue to Help Enhance Northside Team Ministries

During the final week of SLICE (St. Louis Interfaith Community Explorations) 13 volunteers from Normandy United Methodist Church and Greater Mt. Carmel came out to Northside Team Ministries to volunteer.  Volunteers helped paint apartments and build shelves for the food pantry at the community center.  During lunch each day volunteers had discussions around poverty and how they are able to take action to make a change.  Volunteers thank you for putting your faith into action!  Special thanks to the team at Northside Team Ministries and to Ava Johnson from Mi-Hungry who donated lunch for the week.

SLICE Week Three July 9-13 2007,
Volunteers Help Enhance Lydia's House

Volunteers came out to Lydia’s House July 9-13 during FBW’s third week of SLICE (St. Louis Interfaith Community Explorations).  There were three different faith groups involved that included The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Trinity Presbyterian Church of Independence Missouri and a Catholic Student from Visitation Academy.  These three groups helped paint two apartments and prepare them for two new families for a place to call home.  They also helped sort through and organize donations that were used by many families in need throughout the summer.  Volunteers also helped to make the playground a safer place for the children to play, by adding a fresh coat of paint to the equipment.  This was a fantastic week with hardworking volunteers who put their faith into action!  Special thanks to Cathy Sandy and Janel Uelk of Lydia’s House for a wonderful week
