Finishing Touches Added to North Side Community Center.
Over 20 volunteers representing 3 different faith groups put the finishing touches on the North Side Team Ministries’ Community Center.  Volunteers replaced ceiling tiles, finished up with the inside painting of the walls and primed the outside of the building in preparations for a new shade of paint.  One group of volunteers worked at the Third Ward Neighborhood Council Building to help weed and plant flowers around the trees in the front of the building.  Special thanks to Maryville University, Chuck Tyler and Bobbie Small of North Side Team Ministries and Howard LeRight of the Neighborhood Council.

Cold and Rainy Weather Does Not Stop These Volunteers.
Despite the unpleasant rainy weather, 16 youth from St. Joseph’s 8th grade Public School Religion class in Imperial, Missouri worked hard and made a difference for the College Hill Community on the first day of our Mini-SLICE program.  The FBW volunteers worked with the North Side Team Ministry staff to help clear debris out of the warehouse and add a fresh new coat of paint to the walls in a room that will be later used as community center for local youth or meeting space for local residents.  The storage area will be used in the future for a small food pantry.  Thank you to all volunteers for your hard work and dedication to the project. A special thanks to Chuck Tyler and Bobbie Small from the North Side Team Ministries, Howard LeRight of the Neighborhood Council.

Twelve local high school girls, representing 5 faith groups spend their day off from school, President’s Day, having an interfaith discussion and service project.  These young girls came to Lydia’s house to help sort and organize donations.  The staff facilitated a discussion focused on the topic of domestic violence and discussed warning signs of unhealthy relationships and how their respected faith groups respond to these situations.  These donations are used at Lydia’s House to help furnish apartments for women who have left a violent situation and are trying to rebuild their lives.  Special thanks to Lydia’s House staff and Ronit Sherwin of Nishmah.
